Zane's Dream

πŸ›Ά Making Waves and Memories! A Dream of Adventure, Inclusion, and Family Connection πŸ’›

Thirteen-year-old Zane is a quiet, resilient boy who finds his greatest happiness in the simple joys of nature, especially spending time on the water with his family. Living with West Syndrome, a rare genetic duplication, microcephaly, and other complex neurological and physical conditions, Zane requires full-time care and assistance with his daily activities. Despite these challenges, he has his own special ways of communicating and connecting with the people around him.

For Zane, being outdoors brings a wonderful sense of peace and joy. He loves boating, swimming, paddling, and sharing quiet moments surrounded by nature. His family's greatest wish was to make these experiences more accessible so they could continue enjoying the outdoors together.

Alberta Dreams was honoured to make Zane's Dream come true with an unforgettable family getaway to William Watson Lodge, an adaptive paddling experience with Rocky Mountain Adaptive, and his very own two-person kayak! πŸ›Άβœ¨

During their five-day adventure, Zane and his family enjoyed the beautiful scenery, peaceful surroundings, and precious time together. With the support of Rocky Mountain Adaptive, they had the opportunity to experience paddling on the water in a way that accommodated Zane's needs, creating wonderful memories and opening the door to future adventures.Β

And the best part? The adventure doesn't end here! With his new kayak, Zane and his family can look forward to many more opportunities to explore the water and create lasting memories together.

As Zane's family shared: "We had the best time at William Watson, we now see why it's so popular. We definitely will be going back to William Watson in the near future, this was best time for us to go and celebrate Zane birthday early! We are really grateful that Alberta dreams gifted us this trip, we really enjoyed the 5 days away and the time with Rocky Mountain adaptive. Thank you for everything!"

For Zane and his family, this Dream was about so much more than a getaway or a kayak. It was about accessibility, inclusion, and the freedom to enjoy the activities they love together.

At Alberta Dreams, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to experience joy, connection, and adventure. We're so grateful to have helped bring Zane's Dream to life and hope his new kayak brings countless peaceful days, beautiful scenery, and treasured family memories for years to come.
