Dream #1264

This quiet, resilient thirteen‑year‑old boy is deeply loved by his family and supported through a lifetime of complex medical needs with unwavering care and devotion.
From infancy, his life has been shaped by significant neurological and physical challenges. He lives with West Syndrome, a rare genetic duplication, microcephaly, a severe seizure disorder, scoliosis, and airway complications. He is non‑verbal and fully dependent on his parents for daily care, mobility, and medical support.
Despite these challenges, his world is filled with moments of calm and connection.
He finds his greatest peace outdoors — especially on the water. Boating, paddling, swimming, and time in nature bring him comfort and joy, and shared moments with his family are where he feels most content. Simple sensory experiences, familiar routines, and technology also bring him happiness, and he communicates his needs and preferences clearly through expression and response.
And now, he has a dream centered on inclusion and connection.
His wish is for an accessible paddling experience that allows him and his family to safely enjoy time on the water together. With a stay at an inclusive, barrier‑free outdoor lodge and guidance from adaptive recreation specialists, his family can learn safe paddling techniques and determine equipment that supports his needs. His dream also includes a suitable two‑person kayak, allowing these meaningful experiences to continue season after season.
This dream is not about travel or possessions — it is about peace, belonging, and shared moments outdoors.
Alberta Dreams is honored to help bring this dream to life, with an amazing paddling adventure with Rocky Mountain Adaptive, a stay at the amazing William Watson Lodge and his very own 2-person Kayak - creating lasting opportunities for joy, connection, and calm.
