Dream #1260

Life began with challenges few could imagine for this now 10 year old boy. Born early with a complex congenital heart condition, Tetrology of Fallot, he required an urgent medical flight from their remote community to the city, immediate intervention, and intensive care from his very first hours. At only six weeks old, he underwent his first open‑heart surgery, and the first months of his life were spent not at home, but surrounded by monitors and medical teams working tirelessly to keep him stable.

Just when things began to settle, another crisis struck. His repaired artery began to close, leading to a stent procedure complicated by a cardiac arrest and an undetected stroke. In the months that followed, he endured 17 cardiac catheterizations to keep that tiny stent open. At 18 months, a second major heart surgery brought two more strokes and the need for life‑saving ECMO support. His survival through these moments is nothing short of extraordinary.

These early battles left lasting effects. He now lives with cerebral palsy, impacting his mobility and speech, along with focal epilepsy, ADHD, and mild cognitive delays. He has also undergone additional heart and leg surgeries to support his movement and strength.

But none of this defines who he is.

He is funny, thoughtful, and eager to connect. He loves bike riding, campfires, reading, math, family movies, ice fishing, collecting stuffies, indoor play spaces, soccer, baseball, and dancing. He approaches life with determination and a spark that makes everyone around him smile.

And now, he has a dream that reflects exactly who he is becoming.

His wish is for an adapted eBike — something that would help him keep up with friends and family, ride longer distances, and feel the freedom and independence he’s worked so hard for. His current bike, modified by his dad, has been well‑loved, but he has outgrown it.

When asked where he’d go first, he grinned and said he would ride “all the way to my aunty’s house for a sleepover.”

For him, this dream is not just a bike — it’s possibility, confidence, and joy and Alberta Dreams can't wait make this dream a reality.
