Dream #1259

Early in his mother’s pregnancy, doctors suspected genetic concerns, and when he was born, it became clear he had a rare genetic mutation that would shape his life. As a baby, he struggled to settle, cried unpredictably, and experienced multiple seizures. Over time, developmental delays became more noticeable, leading to diagnoses of autism and global developmental delay.
Later came another life‑changing diagnosis — a severe genetic form of epilepsy caused by a FASN gene mutation. His seizures are frequent and unpredictable, sometimes requiring ICU intervention. Heat, sunlight, illness, and routine changes can trigger them, making safety a constant priority for his family.
Despite this, he communicates beautifully with his AAC device. He is expressive, funny, intelligent, and deeply connected to those around him. Now in grade 11, he thrives on routine, enjoys gym class, and loves spending time with classmates who brighten his days.
Outside of school, he finds joy in swimming, walks, trips to the mall, and singing at church. He loves French fries, Popcorn Twists, crafting, electronics, and proudly wearing the toque he made himself. And he is a passionate Edmonton Oilers fan — especially of Connor McDavid, “because he’s so fast.”
His family provides unwavering love and support, creating a safe, meaningful world for him. Because few people are trained to assist with his complex needs, his life revolves around the dedication of his parents.
His dream is to have an adapted bike — built uniquely for his abilities, comfort, and safety. Riding gives him freedom unlike anything else: the wind on his face, the excitement of speed, and the joy of exploring alongside his family.
A bike of his own will bring independence, confidence, outdoor adventure, and countless happy family moments.
This isn’t just a one‑time experience — it’s a long‑term transformation in his quality of life. Alberta Dreams is honoured to help make this dream come true for a young man whose resilience, humour, and heart inspire everyone who meets him.
