When her mom became pregnant with twins, complications began early. At 22 weeks, preterm labor started, and strict bed rest followed. At 28 weeks, labor began again—while dad was working out of province. He barely made it home in time for the twins’ birth. Both babies were fragile, and at just three days old, one twin suffered a severe grade 4 brain bleed. After 109 days in the NICU, the family finally went home, but the challenges were far from over. Doctors warned of an 80–90% chance of cerebral palsy, and as milestones unfolded, the diagnosis came. She wears AFOs, and struggles with fine motor skills but works hard in physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

Then came another hurdle—epilepsy. For two years, seizures disrupted her nights, leaving her exhausted and unable to enjoy simple childhood experiences like sleepovers. After countless medication trials, her condition is finally more manageable, though nighttime seizures still affect her daily life.

Despite everything, she’s a bright, creative 12-year-old who loves crafting, hobby horsing, looming hats and scarves, swimming, baseball, and baking (her carrot cake is a family favorite!). Her dream? A girls’ shopping weekend at West Edmonton Mall—shopping, beach fun, Galaxyland thrills—and an unforgettable chance to spend time with real horses, learning to ride and care for them.
